Will It Be Enough?

If I gave you my all,

Answered every text and call…

And if I loved you with all my heart,

Left you with zero doubt from the start?

If I was there every step of the way,

Provided safety in what I did and what I would say…

And what if I looked the part,

Just like your imaginative art?

If the only time I raised my voice,

Was to protect you from harm and by choice?

If I had a gentle touch…

And my presence was never too much?

If we could connect and repair

Without running or pulling out hair?

And if I promised never to leave,

No matter the pet peeve?

If I could provide

And still leave you with freedom and pride?

If I could help you heal…

And take you to a fancy meal?

I wonder in the depth of my soul

If I’ll ever be made whole…

And I’ll survive because I’m tough,

But will it ever be enough?
